Opening Reception First Friday, March 2nd
If seashells and the sound of waves washing ashore seem like a distant memory in the depths of winter, then please join us this First Friday and be whisked away to the sandy beaches of Brittany. French-born artist Marie Wohlfahrt will be exhibiting paintings in mixed media oil for the month of March. The opening reception is first Friday, March 2nd, from 5 to 8 PM at Lebanon Picture Frame & Fine Art Gallery.
Abstract painter Marie Wohlfahrt is a chemical engineer by profession with a passion for music and art. Even though her career is defined primarily by chemistry and science, Wohlfahrt’s love for the arts was instilled during childhood by her parents. Work first brought Wohlfahrt from France to Lebanon Valley in 2007, and since then she has made Pennsylvania her home. Wohlfahrt begin her artistic journey in watercolor and pencil drawings, and after some encouragement from her father, Wohlfahrt started painting in oil. Seashells, sand, and other elements from the beach, which the artist has accumulated through her travels, are often incorporated into her work.
In 2015, Wohlfahrt was selected to exhibit through a juried competition in the Annual Mt. Gretna Outdoor Art Show and recently became a board member of the Lebanon Valley Council on the Arts. She was also a participant in the SoWe Neighborhood Mural Project in Lancaster, PA, where the community was decorated by 27 mini murals.
