This November, Lebanon Picture Frame & Fine Art Gallery is honored to welcome the return of Lebanon County’s own renaissance man, Dennis Easter. This exhibit of thrilling new abstract expressionist paintings is a continuation of the artist’s exploration of line, form and color. Please join us for the Artist’s Reception on November 1st, from 5 – 8PM, as part of the First Friday Art Walk in downtown Lebanon.
Based in Lebanon, PA, Easter is a well-known and revered figure in the community. Aside from his successful medical practice and profession as an OB/GYN, Easter is also a serious painter and musician. Having studied painting at the University of California at Santa Barbara, he showed regularly in various galleries and also produced work by commission for over twenty-five years. The painter works primarily in acrylic on canvas and panel, as well as on paper. His distinct, architectural style finds its visual lineage in the great modern abstract artists of the mid-20th century. The use of color in Easter’s paintings is akin to the emotion conveyed by Rothko, but with a more pronounced edge, akin to Mondrian’s distinctive geometric shapes. In this latest exhibition at LPF, Easter explores the varied configurations through which linear abstraction is displayed, along with the tension of the line where the shapes of color adjoin. “I am always fascinated by the subtle color changes where forms or shapes meet and have tried to incorporate that into my work,” Easter remarked.
