For the months of June and July, 2021, Lebanon Picture Frame & Fine Art Gallery (LPF) is presenting an exhibition of a private collection of works by local artist Bruce Johnson, all of which are available for purchase. This amazing collection contains works spanning over 3+ decades of Johnson’s career including original watercolors, pen and ink illustrations, 3D reproductions, limited edition reproductions from watercolor (including a #1 edition) as well as his famous “statement” pieces. The collection will be on view for the months of June and July at LPF. In observance of the recent social distancing guidelines and to help curb the spread of COVID-19, LPF will not be hosting a live artist’s reception. The exhibition will be available to view via LPF’s Facebook Page beginning at 5pm on Friday, June 4, 2021. This exquisite collection can also be viewed in person during the months of June and July until Saturday, July 31, 2021. To view the works in person, the gallery is open during its normal operating hours.
A former resident of Annville, Johnson has spent over 30 years as an accomplished and celebrated artist both in the commercial sector as well as in the realm of the fine arts. In addition to his international success, Johnson has remained a regional favorite among residents of the Lebanon Valley throughout his career. After earning a Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree from the Philadelphia College of Art, which is now The University of the Arts, Johnson began as an art director and commercial artist before moving into his current career in the fine arts. His work has been exhibited across the globe from Europe to the United States. His most well-known works are his whimsical pen and ink “statement” pieces which are humorous, outlandish, and poignant depictions of human behavior. These “statements” have been exhibited and sold in over 2,000 galleries across the United States and abroad. They are much sought after pieces by collectors around the world. The collection in this exhibit contains nine of these “statement” pieces, three of which are 3D representations of the original work.
Johnson’s watercolor paintings often depict his multiple trips abroad to locations which include Russia, Germany, and France, as well as his travels throughout the United States. Many of these locales are represented by the paintings in this exhibition; from Red Square in Moscow to the Provence Region in France to Hershey, Pennsylvania.
Lebanon Picture Frame & Fine Art Gallery has been serving the regional artistic community since 1999. Aside from professional and quality archival custom framing, its gallery regularly features exhibitions of local artists, as well as unique handcrafted gift items such as jewelry, paintings, ceramics, sculptures and more.
