This month’s featured artist at Lebanon Picture Frame and Fine Art Gallery is transplanted local artist Reed Dixon. For the entire month of July, Lebanon Picture Frame and Fine Art Gallery will be exhibiting a collection of Dixon’s most recent works. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, in order to maintain the safety and health of the community, Lebanon Picture Frame will not be hosting a live artist reception in the gallery but will be exhibiting these wonderful pieces both on our walls and on the gallery Facebook page starting Friday evening, July 3. We are open under our normal business hours with CDC guidelines in place so please stop in and check out these incredible pieces.
“I love to paint!” exclaims Dixon, and it shows in the vibrancy of his work. Now based in Boynton Beach, Florida, the Pittsburgh native studied graphic design and fine arts at the Art Institute of Pittsburgh before launching a successful career in the advertising and design business spending time as a card designer with Hallmark Cards in Kansas City, Missouri along the way. After working for a few years in the ad business (while always painting), Dixon opened his own shop, Dixon Graphics, a graphic design and fine arts studio in 1977.
He is well-known for his non-traditional style, color palette and unusual variety of subject matter. These latest works on display are predominantly acrylic on paper and do not disappoint with their explosions of color.
Dixon is also one of the co-founders of the very successful Mt. Gretna PA Outdoor Art Show in 1975 and is also a co-producer of Art on the Square in Delray Beach, Florida. Throughout the years, his art has been exhibited in the Society of Illustrators Show in New York City and the Communication Arts Illustration Annual as well as many more in the Philadelphia graphic design annuals. His art has been exhibited widely over the past 50 years and can now also be found in several galleries in Florida and Pennsylvania.
