For the month of August, Lebanon Picture Frame & Fine Art Gallery presents the work of Collage artist Katherine Horst, and Glass artist Jan Lipensky.
Katherine Horst first came to our area in 2005 to attend Pennsylvania College of Art & Design in Lancaster. In 2009, she was awarded her BA in Fine Art, and made the move to Manheim to continue practicing.
As a collage artist, Horst uses found scraps of cards, pamphlets, newspapers, sketchbooks, and even coffee filters to construct her imagery. She says, “I look at each piece of paper as a brushstroke as I solve the puzzle of my composition.”
The end result of Katherine’s efforts are engaging landscape collages that convey her love of nature and an appreciation of the rolling hills and farmlands that surround us here in the Lebanon Valley.
Jan Lipensky took up glass fusing about 5 years ago.
Fascinated by the gorgeous, clean colors associated with the glass, Lipensky started out making jewelry, and eventually expanded into larger functional and decorative pieces, each fired in a kiln 2 or 3 or maybe more times. No two of her glass pieces are the same in design, color, or shape, which makes each one special. Her glass workshop is located in her home in Annville.
